Details:
On or about Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021, around 6:15 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and an SUV loaded with 25 people left thirteen people dead and sent eleven others to the hospital. Highway Patrol said the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 115 and Norrish Road in Imperial, California.
California Highway Patrol officials said an SUV filled with 25 people allegedly pulled into the path of a tractor-trailer on Highway 115 from Norrish Road. Emergency responders pronounced twelve people dead at the scene, while another died a short time after being taken to the hospital. Eleven others were transported to area hospitals with various injuries.
Google Maps shows the scene of the accident is about about 125 miles east of San Diego, not far from the Mexican border.
Multiple agencies are currently investigating the accident.
