On or about Thursday, November 4th, 2021, an accident between a USPS mail truck and a pedestrian sent a young boy to the hospital. Local authorities said the accident was reported along Virginia Avenue in Huntington, West Virginia.

Authorities said 13-year-old Aaron Murphy was injured when he was allegedly struck by a USPS mail truck as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Virginia Avenue. Emergency responders transported Murphy to a nearby hospital for treatment of multiple injuries stemming from the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their initial statement on the accident.

According to Google Maps, Huntington is about 53 miles west of downtown Charleston.

Officials are still working to pin down the cause of the accident.
