Details:
On or about Friday, April 29th, 2022, around 2:30 in the morning, an accident between an alleged DWI driver and a scooter left a 32-year-old man dead. Deputies from the Travis County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along East Seventh Street in Austin, Texas.
Authorities from the Austin Police Department said 32-year-old Adam Gaconnet was killed when an alleged DWI driver struck Gaconnet while he was driving a scooter along East Seventh Street. Emergency responders pronounced Gaconnet dead of his injuries a short time after the collision, but it is not immediately clear if he died at the scene or if he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.
Police have since identified the driver of the other vehicle as 21-year-old Francisco Jauregui, who was charged with driving while intoxicated after the collision.
Officials are still examining the cause of the accident.
