Details:
On or about Thursday, November 11th, 2021, around 3:15 in the afternoon, an accident between an SUV and a heavy-duty pickup truck left one man dead and sent two other people to the hospital. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported at the intersection of Las Milpas Road and Old San Juan Road in San Juan, Texas.
Police officers said 65-year-old Alejandro Banda was killed when the SUV he was riding in allegedly failed to yield at the intersection of Old San Juan Road and Las Milpas Road and collided with a heavy duty pickup truck. Banda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the SUV and the driver of the heavy-duty truck were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, San Juan is a short distance north of the border with Mexico, just outside McAllen.
Officials are still investigating the incident.
