On or about Saturday, January 3rd, 2021, around 3:30 in the morning, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer left an 18-year-old man dead. Troopers from the CHP said the accident happened along Highway 145 near the intersection with Commerce Way in Fresno, California.
Highway Patrol spokespeople said 18-year-old Alex Marmolejo was killed when his car allegedly struck the back of a parked 18-wheeler on the side of the roadway. Emergency response personnel pronounced Marmolejo dead of his injuries a short time after the collision. Authorities did not mention any other injuries in their preliminary report.
Officials did not specify if the tractor-trailer was legally parked at the time of the accident.
Police have not released the name of the truck driver.
