On or about Friday, August 13th, 2021, around 1:39 in the morning, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident left a 29-year-old Dallas, Texas man dead, and sent another to the hospital. Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 49 in Rogers, Arkansas.

Troopers from the Arkansas State Police said 29-year-old Alfred Darrin Lucas was killed, while 40-year-old Michael Lynn Sasser was injured when the tractor-trailer they were in allegedly drove off the southbound side of I-49 and rolled when it struck an embankment. Lucas was pronounced dead of his injuries a short time after the accident, while Sasser was rushed to Mercy Hospital Northwest with unspecified injuries.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 49 runs north and south through Rogers, which is situated about 22 miles north of Fayetteville.

Officials are still investigating.
