On or about Saturday, December 25th, 2021, around 11:20 at night, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 22-year-old man. Spokespeople from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 35 near the exchange with Hesters Crossing Boulevard in Round Rock, Texas.
Authorities from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department said 22-year-old Andrew Cox was killed when the pickup truck he was driving allegedly collided with a tractor-trailer that was parked completely or partially in the lane of traffic. Emergency responders pronounced Cox dead of his injuries a short time after the collision. Officials did not mention any other injuries stemming from the accident in their statement.
Police did not speculate as to why the truck was parked in or partially in the roadway.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 35 cuts north and south through the center of Round Rock, which is situated about 21 miles north of downtown Austin.
Several agencies from the surrounding areas responded to assist after the incident.
