On or about Monday, November 15th, 2021, around 8:37 in the morning, a major accident between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck left one woman dead and sent a man to the hospital. Troopers from the ASP said the accident was reported in the 4700 block of Highway 71 in Texarkana, Arkansas.
Sources from the Arkansas State Police said 50-year-old Angela Cowling was killed, and 51-year-old Gregory Cowling was injured when the pickup truck they were in allegedly struck logs that were hanging off the back of a turning tractor-trailer along Highway 71. Emergency responders pronounced Angela Cowling dead a short time after the accident, while Gregory Cowling was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries after the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 71 runs north and south through the center of Texarkana.
Police are still looking into the accident.
