On or about Monday, October 11th, 2021, around 5:55 in the morning, a hit-and-run accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian left a 54-year-old Lawrenceville woman dead. Troopers from the NJHP said the accident was reported along Route 1 at the intersection with Bakers Basin Road in Lawrence, New Jersey.
Law enforcement officials said 54-year-old Angelica Moran-Moreira was killed when she was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer that was turning onto Route 1 from Bakers Basin Road. The tractor-trailer fled the scene of the accident after hitting Moran-Moreira, who was pronounced dead at the scene a short time after emergency responders arrived. Authorities did not mention any other vehicles in their statement on the incident.
Police have since charged 54-year-old Frank Claybrooks with with second-degree leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and third-degree endangering an injured victim in connection with the accident.
Multiple agencies assisted in the accident investigation.
