Details:
On or about Sunday, January 2nd, 2022, around 1:30 in the morning, a hit-and-run accident between a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 10 just outside Vinton in El Paso County, Texas.
Police officers said 23-year-old Anita Cuellar was killed when she was allegedly hit by a passing motorist as she was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10. The vehicle that struck Cuellar fled the scene after the accident. Emergency responders pronounced Cuellar dead of her injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident.
Authorities are still trying to track down the driver and car that struck Cuellar.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 19 miles north of downtown El Paso.
Multiple agencies are assisting in the accident investigation.
