On or about Monday, March 14th, 2022, around 3:30 in the afternoon, a serious accident between a dump truck and a passenger vehicle left an 84-year-old man dead. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Farm-to-Market Road 725 at West Zipp Road in New Braunfels, Texas.
Investigators said 84-year-old Antonio Garcia Olvera was killed when the pickup truck he was driving was allegedly struck by a dump truck that ran a red light at the intersection of FM 725 and West Zipp Road. After the initial collision, one of the vehicles rolled to the driver’s side. Emergency responders pronounced Olvera dead of his injuries a short time after the collision.
According to Google Maps, New Braunfels is about 33 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
