Details:
On or about Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020, around 6:00 in the morning, an accident between two tractor-trailers sent one truck driver to the hospital. Georgia State Patrol said the accident happened on the eastbound side of Interstate 20 in Columbia County, Georgia.
Officers said Arencibia Blanco Richart was injured when his 18-wheeler was allegedly rear-ended after he had merged into the eastbound lanes. Authorities said Richart had been in the lane of traffic for around ten seconds when a truck driven by Simon Boatwright rear-ended the truck. Paramedics transported Richart to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
Georgia Department of Transportation closed all of the eastbound lanes for several hours to tend to the scene, which saw lumber scattered across the road following the collision.
The investigation into the accident is still underway.
