On or about Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, around 2:45 in the morning, a serious head-on accident left one individual dead and sent another to the hospital. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Interstate 20 just outside Monahans in Ector County, Texas.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 28-year-old Arnoldo Esquivel De La Rosa was killed while 36-year-old Raul Villanueva was injured when Rosa’s vehicle allegedly struck Villanueva’s head-on while driving the wrong direction on I-20. Emergency responders pronounced Rosa dead of his injuries, while Villanueva was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 15 miles east of Monahans, which is about 176 miles south of Lubbock.
