On or about Monday, January 11th, 2021, around 2:47 in the afternoon, an accident between two pickups, an SUV, a car, and a dump truck left one man dead and sent three others to the hospital. Deputies from the Howard County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened along Route 32 in Dayton, Maryland.

Authorities said a northbound Ford pickup truck allegedly veered over the center line of Route 32 and struck a southbound dump truck and a car. The dump truck subsequently veered over the center line and struck a northbound Chevrolet pickup. A Jeep SUV then crashed into the car and the Ford. The driver of the car was identified as 50 year old Arshad Mehmood Malik, who was pronounced dead after the crash. A passenger in the car, the driver of the Chevrolet pickup, and the driver of the dump truck were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

According to Google Maps, Route 32 is two lanes that run north and south through Howard County. Video from the scene show construction barrels and blocked portions of roadway. Dayton is about 26 miles west of downtown Baltimore.

State and local police are investigating the accident.
