Details:
On or about Friday, January 21st, 2022, around 2:33 in the afternoon, an accident between a transit van and a tractor-trailer left one man dead and sent a Texas man to the hospital. Troopers from the ASP said the accident was reported along Interstate 30 near the exchange with 65th Street in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Officials from the Arkansas State Police said 70-year-old Arturo Ortiz Palacio was killed and 58-year-old Mark Wyne Vanatta was injured when Palacio’s tractor-trailer allegedly crossed over the center line of the roadway and struck a transit van in the oncoming lanes. Palacio was ejected in the crash and died of his injuries a short time later. Paramedics transported Vanatta to St. Vincent Hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
According to Google Maps, the exchange of Interstate 30 and 65th Street is on the south side of Little Rock.
Officials are still investigating the crash.
