Details:
On or about Friday, November 20th, 2020, around 7:44 in the evening, an accident between an SUV and a Mack truck claimed the lives of two women. Investigators said the accident happened on Highway 367 at County Road 307 in Possum Grape, Arkansas.
Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said 20-year-old Ashley Steele and 28-year-old Leslie Lewis were killed when the Land Rover they were in allegedly collided with the driver’s side of a Mack truck that was backing into a private driveway. Steele and Lewis were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Arkansas State Police did not mention the name of the Mack truck driver in their report.
Examining the scene of the accident on Google Maps shows Highway 367 runs north and south with two lanes, while County Road 307 appears to be a dirt driveway that splits off the highway in a residential area. Possum Grape is located about 76 miles northeast of Little Rock.
State Police is assisting with the accident investigation.
