Details:
On or about Thursday, June 23rd, 2022, around 2:13 in the morning, a serious single-vehicle car accident left one man dead and sent another to the hospital. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Farm-to-Market Road 17 in Van Zandt County, Texas.
Law enforcement spokespeople from the Texas DPS said 28-year-old Austin Moore was killed and 22-year-old Tatum Reed was injured when the pickup truck they were in allegedly hit a pole and a boulder when it veered off the side of FM 17. Emergency responders pronounced Moore dead of his injuries a short time after the accident. Reed was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident.
According to Google Maps, Farm-to-Market Road 17 winds north and south into Van Zandt County.
Police are still investigating.
