On or about Monday, December 20th, 2021, around 9:00 at night, a hit-and-run accident between a car and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 37-year-old Houston man. Officials from the SLPD said the accident was reported along the northbound Highway 59 service road near the exchange with the South Parkway in Sugar Land, Texas.

Authorities from the area said 37-year-old Austin Reese was killed when he was allegedly hit by a Pontiac Vibe as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the Highway 59 service road. The vehicle that struck Reese fled the scene of the incident. Paramedics pronounced Reese dead of his injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the incident is about 20 miles southwest of downtown Houston.

Officials are still trying to track down the vehicle or driver that fled the scene.
