On or about Sunday, July 11th, 2021, around 11:40 at night, a hit-and-run accident with a truck claimed the life of a 56-year-old Amarillo native. Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along FM 1061 in Bushland, Texas.
Police from the area said 56-year-old Aye Mya was killed when they were allegedly hit by a large truck as they were walking along or trying to cross Farm-to-Market 1061. Paramedics pronounced Mya dead from major trauma injuries at the scene of the accident. The pickup truck that struck Mya fled the scene after the accident.
According to Google Maps, Farm-to-Market 1061 runs north and south through Bushland, which is a short distance west of Amarillo.
State and local law enforcement are investigating the accident.
