Details:
On or about Wednesday, April 20th, 2022, a major two-vehicle car accident with a wrong-way driver left two people dead and sent three others to the hospital. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Farm-to-Market 506 in Weslaco, Texas.
Law enforcement representatives from the area said 36-year-old Benjamin Caballero and 41-year-old Mario Antonio Solis Sumano were killed when the vehicle they were in allegedly struck another car head-on while one of them was driving the wrong direction on FM 506. Emergency responders pronounced Caballero and Sumano dead a short time after the accident, while a juvenile passenger in their vehicle, as well as the driver and passenger in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with unknown injuires.
According to Google Maps, FM 506 cuts north and south through Weslaco.
Police are still investigating the accident.
