Details:
On or about Wednesday, September 1st, 2021, around 1:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and an SUV left one person dead and sent one other to the hospital. Troopers from the KSP said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 27 and Keene Center Drive in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
Deputies from the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Department said 58-year-old Bennie Gerald Shelton was killed, while an as-of-yet unidentified individual was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck an SUV that was attempting to turn at the intersection of Keene Center Drive and Highway 27. After the initial collision the tractor-trailer crashed into a ditch a short distance off the pavement. Shelton died of his injuries a short time after the accident, while the driver of the SUV was treated for unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, Nicholasville is about 12 miles south of downtown Lexington.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
