On or about Wednesday, October 21st, 2020, around 11:14 in the morning, an accident with an 18-wheeler sent the driver of a car to the hospital. The accident took place on Highway 60 in Birch Tree, Missouri.
Deputies from the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office said that 42-year-old Billy Carrell was injured when his car was hit by an 18-wheeler that allegedly failed to yield as Carrell was merging. Carrell was taken by EMS to Ozarks Medical Center to be treated for moderate injuries.
Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 47-year-old Gaylon Harper, who did not report injuries following the crash.
A review of Highway 60 in the area on Google Maps shows a two-lane roadway that runs east and west, just north of Birch Tree. Birch Tree is located about 167 miles southeast of St Louis.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene of the accident, which is still under investigation.
