On or about Sunday, November 1st, 2020, around 7:40 in the evening, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer rollover accident claimed the life of one man and sent a woman to the hospital. Texas DPS said the accident happened on Interstate 40 outside McLean in Gray County, Texas.

Authorities said 51-year-old Billy Hardin was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly veered off the side of Interstate 40 and rolled after hitting a barrier. Hardin was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Sheila Conrad was a passenger in the truck who was taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

Officials reported freezing rain in the area at the time of the crash.

Google Maps shows Interstate 40 is four lanes, with a wide, grassy median dividing east and westbound traffic. Gray County is situated about 57 miles east of Amarillo.

Police hope to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
