On or about Wednesday, January 5th, 2022, sometime in the morning hours, an accident between a passenger vehicle and two tractor-trailers claimed the life of a 24-year-old Rome woman. Representatives from the GSP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 75 just outside Cartersville in Bartow County, Georgia.

Spokespeople from the Georgia State Patrol said 24-year-old Blanca Estela Arteaga was killed when the car she was driving was allegedly struck by an 18-wheeler after she was involved in a previous collision with another tractor-trailer. It is not clear if there were two separate accidents, or if it was one chain-reaction accident with all three vehicles. Emergency responders pronounced Arteaga dead of her injuries a short time after the accident. Officials did not mention any other injuries stemming from the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 75 cuts north and south through the center of Cartersville, which is about 43 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
