On or about Monday, October 19th, 2020, around 7:30 in the morning, a collision between a tanker truck and a car claimed the lives of both drivers. The accident happened on Highway 19 just outside Northfield in Rice County, Minnesota.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department said that 59-year-old Richard Banidt and 28-year-old Bobak Barjasteh were killed when a westbound tanker truck, driven by Banidt, collided with Barjasteh’s eastbound car. Both victims were pronounced dead a short time after the crash was reported.
An examination of Highway 19 on Google Maps shows a two lane highway that runs east and west through the heart of Northfield, which is located roughly 48 miles south of Minneapolis.
