On or about Thursday, April 28th, 2022, around 11:40 in the morning, a serious accident between a pickup truck, a tractor-trailer towing a mobile home, and a box truck left an 88-year-old Brookeland man dead. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 96 in Jasper, Texas.

Spokespeople from the Texas DPS said 88-year-old Bobby Hamilton was killed when the pickup truck he was driving allegedly collided with the side of a mobile home being towed by a tractor-trailer that was driving the opposite direction on Highway 96. After the initial collision, the pickup collided with a box truck. Emergency responders pronounced Hamilton dead of his injuries a short time after the collision.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about a mile and a half north of the intersection with Recreational Road 255.

Authorities are still examining the cause of the accident.
