On or about Saturday, January 16th, 2021, around 12:40 in the morning, an accident between a car and an 18-wheeler claimed the life of a 32-year-old Dallas man. Troopers from the Texas DPS said the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 45 just outside Corsicana in Navarro County, Texas.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 32-year-old Brandon Thompson was killed when his car was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer after the car hit a concrete barrier. Thompson was pronounced dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. Authorities identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 61-year-old Doniacano Ortega, who was unhurt in the accident.
Navarro County is situated about 55 miles south of downtown Dallas, according to Google Maps. Interstate 45 runs north and south through the county.
Texas DPS and local police are investigating the accident.
