On or about Thursday, April 15th, 2021, just before 2:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tanker truck, a pickup truck, and a tractor-trailer sent one person to the hospital. Troopers from the DPS said the accident happened on East Loop 289 at East 50th Street in Lubbock, Texas.
Department of Public Safety Troopers said a tanker truck allegedly failed to yield to a pickup truck while entering northbound East Loop 289 from East 50th Street. The pickup truck was pushed across the median and into the path of a southbound 18-wheeler. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 26-year-old Branner Aldana, was taken to University Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries.
The exchange of East Loop 289 and East 50th Street is a short distance south of downtown Lubbock, according to Google Maps.
Police are still investigating.
