On or about Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, around 5:28 in the afternoon, an accident between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 35-year-old man. Deputies from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at the intersection of Old Central Avenue Northeast and 72nd Avenue Northeast in Fridley, Minnesota.
Investigators said 35-year-old Brian Robert Loyas was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer that was turning onto 72nd Avenue Northeast from Old Central Avenue Northeast. Emergency responders rushed Loyas to HCMC Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their initial statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 9 miles north of downtown Minneapolis.
Authorities are still examining the factors that may have played a role in the accident.
