On or about Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, sometime in the afternoon hours, an accident between a tractor-trailer, an SUV, and a pickup truck left one woman dead and sent two children to the hospital. Representatives from the ISP said the accident was reported along State Route 148 in Franklin County, Illinois.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 32-year-old Britney Giacone was killed and two children in her vehicle were injured when their SUV was allegedly struck by a pickup truck and pushed into the path of a tractor-trailer along Route 148. Emergency responders pronounced Giacone dead of the injuries she suffered when she was ejected from the vehicle in the collision, while two children in the vehicle were airlifted to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is at the intersection with Park Street Road.
Authorities are still looking into the accident.
