Brooke Rees Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident on Interstate 70 in Topeka

On or about Wednesday, February 24th, 2021, around 4:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a car left a 29-year-old woman dead. Authorities said the accident happened along Interstate 70 near 3rd Street in Topeka, Kansas.

Officials from the Kansas State Police said an eastbound tractor-trailer hauling pipes allegedly lost it’s load, sending pipes into the westbound lanes where they slammed into a Kia driven by 29-year-old Brooke Rees. Rees died of her injuries at the scene of the accident. No other injuries were reported by police in their preliminary statement.

According to Google Maps, the exchange of Interstate 70 and 3rd Street is a short distance outside downtown Topeka.

State and local law enforcement are investigating the accident.
