On or about Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021, around 4:48 in the morning, a major accident with a tractor-trailer, a pickup truck, and an ambulance claimed the life of a 58-year-old fire department assistant chief. Troopers from the MSHP said the accident was reported on Interstate 70 near the exchange with Route Z in Boone County, Missouri.

Spokespeople from the Missouri State Highway Patrol said 58-year-old Bryant Gladney was killed when a tractor-trailer driven by Kevin Bunson allegedly collided with the pickup truck Gladney was driving and an ambulance as they were responded to the scene of a previous accident. Paramedics pronounced Gladney dead of his injuries a short time after the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 70 cuts east and west through the center of Boone County, which is about 131 miles west of St. Louis.

Officials are still looking into the accident.
