On or about Monday, January 10th, 2022, around 1:22 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle claimed the lives of three individuals, two of which are from Louisiana. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 71 near the exchange with Bordovsky Road just outside La Grange, Texas.

Law enforcement representatives from the area said 23-year-old Carl Taylor Jr, 20-year-old Nicholas Flakes, and 17-year-old Jordan Lewis were killed when the passenger vehicle they were in allegedly collided with a tractor-trailer that had just maneuvered into a turn-lane. After the initial collision, the passenger vehicle burst into flames. Flakes, Lewis, and Taylor were pronounced dead of their injuries after the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance west of La Grange, which is roughly 65 miles southeast of downtown Austin.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
