On or about Sunday, December 12th, 2021, around 3:40 in the morning, a major accident between a passenger vehicle and an SUV claimed the lives of two women. Authorities from the area said the accident was reported on Highway 190 near Woodville in Tyler County, Texas.

Investigators said 34-year-old Cassie Battise was killed when the car she was driving allegedly veered over the center line of Highway 190 and slammed into a Ford Explorer SUV driven by 52-year-old Latina Tate. Emergency responders pronounced Tate and Battise dead of their injuries a short time after they responded to the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 10 miles west of Woodville, which is located roughly 106 miles northeast of downtown Houston.

Officers are still investigating the accident.
