Details:
On or about Tuesday, January 11th, 2022, sometime in the morning hours, a serious accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian left a 28-year-old man dead. Troopers from the ISP said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 74 in Champaign, Illinois.
Authorities from the Illinois State Police said 28-year-old Cedric H. Jones was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Interstate 74. Emergency responders pronounced Jones dead of his injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their report on the incident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 74 winds east and west through Champaign, which is about 135 miles south of downtown Chicago.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
