On or about Thursday, January 6th, 2022, in the late night hours, an accident between a stuck tractor-trailer, a pickup truck, and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 37-year-old man from Levelland, Texas. Officials from the NMSP said the accident was reported along Orla Road in Lea County, New Mexico.

Representatives from the New Mexico State Police said 37-year-old Cesar Gutierrez Dominguez was killed when he was allegedly hit by a pickup truck that had swerved to avoid a tractor-trailer that was stuck in the roadway and blocking all the lanes of traffic. Emergency responders rushed Dominguez to a hospital in Kermit, Texas where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.

According to Google Maps, Lea County is located in the far southeast corner of New Mexico, about 300 miles southeast of Albuquerque.

Officials are still examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
