Charles J. Karanink was killed in a morning crash on December 3, 2024, when his 2023 Mini Cooper drifted from the northbound lane of I-85, first crashing into a guardrail to his right, and then with the tractor-trailer on his left. South Carolina Highway Patrol reports the incident occurred near mile marker 2.5, approximately two miles south of Fair Play, SC. The 63-year-old resident of Center Valley, PA, was taken to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital by helicopter, but was pronounced dead while in flight.
