Details:
On or about Wednesday, October 6th, 2021, an accident between a pedestrian, a school bus, and a dump truck sent a child to the hospital. Deputies from the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along State Highway 21 in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
Investigators from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified child was injured when they were allegedly hit by a dump truck that was veering around the school bus the child had just exited. Emergency responders transported the child to a nearby hospital with serious injuries after the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their initial statement on the accident.
Authorities have since charged the driver of the dump truck, identified as Gregory Valentine, with negligent injuring, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license in connection with the incident.
Officials are still examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
