Details:
On or about Wednesday, October 28th, 2020, around 11:52 in the morning, an accident between a car and two tractor trailers left a 10-year-old child dead and a woman injuries. Highway Patrol said the accident happened happened on Highway 99 near Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield, California.
Police said that a 10-year-old child was killed and 36-year-old Adriana Zavala Tinoco was injured when the car they were in was allegedly struck from behind by a tractor-trailer driven by 44-year-old Ramiro F. Sanchez. After the initial impact, Tinoco’s car was pushed into the back of another 18-wheeler driven by 33-year old Meesak Anjum. Paramedics transported Tinoco and the child to a nearby hospital where the child succumbed to their injuries.
According to Google Maps, Golden State Highway (Highway 99) is six lanes wide, with a concrete barrier dividing north and southbound traffic. The stretch of road is located just northwest of downtown Bakersfield.
California Highway Patrol is assisting in the accident investigation.
