    Details:

    On or about Thursday, January 13th, 2022, sometime in the afternoon hours, an accident between an alleged drunk driver and another vehicle left a 2-year-old child dead and injured three others. Officials from the Gregg County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported near the Dollar General on Highway 149 in Longview, Texas.

    Law enforcement officials said an as-of-yet unidentified 2-year-old girl was killed, while 26-year-old Alan Jasso Cerna and two other children were injured when the vehicle they were in was allegedly hit by an alleged drunk driver on Highway 149. Emergency responders rushed a 2-year-old passenger in the car to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival. Paramedics also transported Cerna and two other children to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

    Police identified the driver of the other vehicle as 21-year-old Hayden M. Malone, who currently faces three counts of intoxication assault and one count of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident.

    According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is roughly 127 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.

    Multiple agencies responded to the scene of the accident to assist.
