Details:
On or about Friday, December 24th, 2021, around 6:06 in the evening, an accident between a minivan and a tractor-trailer left a child dead and sent four people to the hospital. Troopers from the VPS said the accident was reported along Route 29 in Nelson County, Virginia.
Representatives from the Virginia State Police said an as-of-yet unidentified 8-year-old child was killed and four other people were injured when the minivan they were in was allegedly struck from behind by a tractor-trailer. Officials believe the minivan may have stopped or slowed for wildlife in the roadway in the moments before the collision. One child in the van died, while the driver and three other passengers were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, Nelson County is about 104 miles west of downtown Richmond.
Officials are still investigating the incident.
