Details:
On or about Wednesday, January 12th, 2022, around 12:30 in the afternoon, a major accident between a tractor-trailer and an SUV left one child dead and left three other people injured. Department of Public Safety Troopers said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 20 in Canton, Texas.
Troopers from the Texas DPS, an as-of-yet unidentified 1-year-old child was killed, while 22-year-old Chassity Gant, 22-year-old Katanni Senegal and a 2-year-old child were injured when the Ford Escape SUV they were in was allegedly struck from behind by a tractor-trailer on westbound I-20. Emergency responders rushed the 1-year-old to the hospital where they died a short time later, while Senegal and a 2-year-old girl were rushed to the hospital. Gant was treated for her injuries at the scene of the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 20 runs east and west along northern edge of Canton, which is about 59 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.
Police are still investigating the accident.
