Details:
On or about Tuesday, November 10th, 2020, around 9:00 in the evening, a four vehicle accident with two tractor-trailers claimed the life of a young child and sent three others to the hospital. Authorities said the accident happened on Interstate 55 near New Douglas Road in Madison County, Missouri.
Officials from the area said an 8-year-old child was killed, and three other children were injured when a Chevrolet Malibu allegedly lost control and hit a barrier. A tractor-trailer allegedly swerved to avoid an accident with the Malibu when it struck a nearby Ford Focus. A second tractor-trailer subsequently collided with the Chevrolet Malibu.
One child in the Malibu was pronounced dead, while another child, as well as two other children from the Focus were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
It is unclear if any of the drivers were hurt.
Missouri State Highway Patrol is assisting with the accident investigation.
