On or about Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, around 4:40 in the morning, a serious accident between a box truck, a van, and a pickup truck left one child dead and sent two other people to the hospital. Representatives from the CHP said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 80 near the exchange with Richards Boulevard in Davis, California.

Spokespeople from the California Highway Patrol said an as-of-yet unidentified infant child was killed when the van they were riding in allegedly bounced off a barrier, resulting in a chain-reaction accident with a box truck and a Toyota Tacoma on I-80. Emergency responders pronounced the child dead, while two other as-of-yet unidentified individuals were taken to the hospital with injuries of an unknown nature or severity.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 80 runs east and west along the southern edge of Davis, which is about 14 miles west of Sacramento.
