On or about Thursday, February 3rd, 2022, sometime in the early morning hours, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a Loudon County Sheriff’s Deputy. Authorities from the TSP said the accident was reported along Highway 75 in Loudon County, Tennessee.

Authorities indicated Deputy Chris Jenkins was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer when he may have been retrieving a ladder from the roadway. The tractor-trailer also collided with three other vehicles. Emergency responders pronounced Jenkins dead of his injuries a short time after the accident.

According to Google Maps, Loudon County is about 33 miles southwest of downtown Knoxville.

Officials are still investigating the accident.
