On or about Tuesday, March 9th, 2021, around 11:20 in the morning, an accident between a Honda Civic and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 19-year-old man. Spokespeople from the CHP said the accident happened along the 57 Freeway in San Dimas, California.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office said 19-year-old Christian Lopez was killed when his Honda Civic allegedly struck the back of an 18-wheeler that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced Lopez dead of his injuries after the crash. Officials did not mention any other injuries in their preliminary statement.
The 57 Freeway cuts north and south through the center of San Dimas, which is about 28 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
State and local law enforcement are investigating.
