Details:
On or about Monday, April 5th, 2021, around 7:40 in the evening, an accident between a commercial truck and a car left a 16-year-old dead and sent three other people to the hospital. Authorities from the DPS said the accident was reported along FM 732 near the intersection with Resaca Llena Drive in San Benito, Texas.
Department of Public Safety Troopers said 16-year-old Cristian Valdovinos was killed when the car he was a passenger in and a commercial truck collided under unknown circumstances while driving on FM 732. The driver of the car, Valdovinos, and another passenger were taken to the hospital where Valdovinos succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. The driver of the commercial truck was also injured.
According to Google Maps, San Benito is about 40 miles east of McAllen, not far from the Mexican border.
Deputies from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene of the accident, which is still under investigation.
