Details:
On or about Monday, January 4th, 2021, around 6:30 in the evening, an accident between a box truck and two cars sent two women to the hospital. Authorities from the ISP said the accident happened along Highway 218 near Donnellson in Lee County, Iowa.
Investigators said 59-year-old Christina Boosalis and 36-year-old Jill DeRoos were injured when a box truck allegedly ran a red light at the intersection with 255th Street. Boosalis swerved to avoid a collision and struck a nearby car driven by DeRoos. Paramedics took Boosalis and DeRoos to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
Police have identified the driver of the box truck as 22-year-old Timothy Gerard Cherry, who was reportedly unhurt in the incident.
The scene of the accident is just outside Donnellson, which is about 32 miles southwest of Burlington. Highway 281 is a major thoroughfare that cuts north and south through the area, according to Google Maps.
Iowa State Police and Deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
