On or about Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, around 5:24 in the morning, a major accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer left two women dead and sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries. Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Interstate 45 near Longstreet Road in Willis, Texas.
Investigators said 51-year-old Crystal Dawn Zeigler and 59-year-old Christina Lovejoy were killed when the SUV they were in allegedly lost control and collided with a tractor-trailer on I-45. Emergency responders pronounced Lovejoy and Zeigler dead of their injuries at the scene, while the driver of the SUV was rushed by paramedics to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe where he was last reported in serious condition.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 45 runs north and south through Willis, which is about 48 miles north of downtown Houston.
Authorities are still examining the factors that may have contributed to the collision.
