On or about Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021, around 4:00 in the morning, a major single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident claimed the life of a 70-year-old Knoxville woman. Troopers from the TSP said the accident was reported along the Alcoa Highway in Alcoa, Tennessee.

Law enforcement representatives said 70-year-old Christine Von Dyl was killed when the tractor-trailer she was driving allegedly drove off the side of the Alcoa Highway and crashed. Paramedics rushed Von Dyl to UT Medical Center Hospital where she died of her injuries after her arrival. Police did not mention any other injuries stemming from the accident in their initial report.

According to Google Maps, Alcoa Highway runs north and south through Alcoa, which is about 17 miles south of downtown Knoxville.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
